Trailer and Hitch

If you need to tow your Autocross tires and tools, U-Haul makes a nice, hidden trailer hitch. The part number you want is #247250 ($179). Another part number is #13486, I believe this is for the wiring harness ($16.95). And another part number is 4924, which is probably the 1 7/8" ball mount. U-Haul charged $20.00 for installation. I did not tell them where to install it, they knew exactly where to install it. It was a very professionally done installation.

Northern Tool 40 x 48 trailer

I bought the Utility Trailer 40" X 48" Bed with 12 " tires and 1 7/8" coupler from Northern Tool and Equipment http://www.northern-online.com/ (800) 221-0516, Part number #125427-C142 $189.00 plus shipping. You have to supply the plywood floor. Summit Racing sells tie-down anchors to secure the tires and you could bolt down a large locking tool box similar to the "Track Trailer" below. Ed Kim bought an aluminum box from Continental Accessories. He got the SC36 Utility Box for $205. http://www.autostyles.com/saddle.htm
This is the trailer that Steve Landstra has, actually, he has the trailer with smaller wheels, I think 8". He recommends going with the 12 inch wheels. He customized his with a locking wheel bar and tool box and it looks very much like the "Track Trailer" below.

1. The trailer weighs 180 pounds.
2. The wheel bar is 2 inches and fits through the wheels centers. The maximum width for tires on each side of the tongue is 20 ½ inches.
3. The tires on the trailer are 12 inches.
4. We only make it out of light steel. The difference in weight is very minor and the aluminum would be bolted not welded.
5. The price is $795 FOB.
We just shipped a trailer and hitch for an RX7 last week and he is very happy with it. The hitch for the RX7 is not completely out of sight when not in use.
The width for two tires that can fit on the trailer is 20 ½ inches on each side of the tongue (two tires on each of the tongue). The bar is adjustable to fit 15 - 17 inch tires. The trailer will work with all hitches that will accept a 2 inch ball. I think that u haul sells the same hitch as we do.
